As spring begins, so too does a new era for our top-ranked school of public and international affairs. For more than six decades, the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs has shaped leaders in public service, policy, and global affairs. Now, we’re opening our doors even wider—to the next generation.
Today we begin a new season as the School of Public and International Affairs—a name that reflects our commitment to welcoming and preparing students at every stage of their academic and professional journey. While our graduate programs will continue their legacy of excellence, this evolution ensures that undergraduates, too, will find a home here as they chart their own paths in public policy.
“We’ve found that undergraduate students are increasingly motivated by opportunities in public and international affairs,” said Dean Carissa Slotterback. “By engaging with students earlier, we’re helping them build the foundational skills of leadership and public service that are needed now more than ever.”
With the introduction of a new Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy, we welcome students eager to engage with critical policy issues, develop essential skills, and step into leadership roles that make a difference in their communities and beyond. Students can gain policy knowledge through our minors in Public Policy and Global Policy, equipping them with the skills and perspective to tackle today’s most pressing challenges. We also launched the Policy and Social Impact Fellows Program, offering an immersive experience that connects students with hands-on projects, expert mentorship and real-world policy work. Whether exploring policy for the first time or preparing for a career in public service, there is a place for students to grow, lead and make a difference in the School of Public and International Affairs.
“This is not just a name evolution—it’s a milestone in our journey,” Slotterback shared. “We embrace a future that expands our mission, deepens our impact, and invites even more students to shape the world with us.”
